The easy relaxed vibe of Spring and Summer is slowly approaching...and with it comes a super comfy easy breezy flirty way to dress for the impending perfect weather. Maxi skirts have made their mark on the market. So much so, that skirts are no longer the "assistant" piece in the outfit, but instead have become a statement all on their own. In fabrics from lacey sheers, to tribal brights, sweet oversize florals, and menswear inspired plaids, the maxi options are endless.
Many people find that if you are not exceedingly tall, maxis are not a flattering look. I have to disagree. If you put it with the right shoes, maxi skirts can be flatting for women of all heights, no matter what their vertical challenges may be. While a taller woman would be able to pull off wearing her maxi with flat sandals or ballets...those of us with a shorter stature should opt for a chunky high platform sandal to lengthen our bodies and legs out. The high sandals will visually shorten the hemline of the skirt and create more distance between the skirt edge and the ground- making you appear taller and more slender. It will instantly make the skirt much more flattering. Luckily with 70's style hitting hard for Spring, there is no shortage of amazing platform sandals to choose from. (I will be sure to blog about my favorites and give you some ideas!) Another amazing accessory to wear with your maxi? Floppy hats! Make sure to check out my blog entry "HEADS UP!" for some FANTASTIC floppy hat ideas for Spring.
